Sign of the woman

The wonder or sign of the woman in heaven, Re 12:1-5, appears to be going to take place in the heaven as a astrological conjunction with the sun, planets and the moon and two constellations on Sept. 23, 2017. Actually, two wonders or signs are mentioned in the following verses. The second being the great red dragon.

Revelation 12:1-5 KJVS
[1] And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: [2] And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. [3] And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. [4] And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. [5] And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Some theologians and biblical commentators say Re 12:1-5 represent Mary, and that the birth of the man child is the birth of our Lord. And that the great red dragon represents Satan using King Herod, to kill the Lord as soon as he was born. Apostle John was given explicit instruction by the Lord on what he should write in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 1:11,19 KJVS
[11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. [19] Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

It goes against what is written in the above verses, that Re 12:1-5 describes events in the past surrounding our Lord’s birth. John was instructed by the Lord on what he was to write in the book of Revelation. He was to write the things he had seen, things which are, and things which shall be hereafter. John was not old enough to have seen the events which transpired at the time of our Lord’s birth because he was younger than Jesus. Most biblical theologians believe that the narrative of the book of Revelation is linear. The forth chapter starts by a voice from heaven bidding John to come up and he would be shown things that transpired hereafter, Rev 4:1. Again most theologians place the following chapters in the book of Revelations in the future or as the voice from heaven stated it, the hereafter. Other theologians and bible commentators think that the woman is Israel, or the church but is not. According to Apostle Paul, who was highly educated as a Pharisee, and inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the bulk of the New Testament epistles, the woman who gives birth to the promise seed is Jerusalem from above or Sion, Gal 4:22-28. Which agrees with Isa 66:8 and He 12:22.

Isaiah 66:8 KJVS
[8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

Notice that as soon as Zion travailed she brought forth the children of God, Ro 9:26, the body of Christ. Verse eight closely matches the language used in Rev 12:2, and supports the fact that Rev 12:1-5 is not pointing back in time, but ahead. I recently bought the Stellarium app for my iPad to confirm the information in the videos which I linked to at the beginning of this article. From my investigations using that software, the wonder or sign of the woman as described in Re 12:1, match a conjunction of planets within the backdrop of two constellations in the sky on Sept. 23, 2017. What is commonly known as the rapture, is associated with the sign of the woman, Re 12:1-5, and the woman’s birth of the man child. If so, then the rapture or gathering of the saints unto the Lord, according to scripture, takes place at the sounding of the seventh trumpet. I base this conclusion largely on Re 10:7 and Re 11:15

Revelation 10:7 | ESV
7 but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.

Re 10:7 refers to when the actual event takes place a short time later in the book of Revelation.

Re 11:15 And the seventh messenger trumpets. And loud voices occurred in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of this world became our Lord’s and His Christ’s, and He shall be reigning for the eons of the eons! Amen!”CLV

The mystery of God is Christ in you the hope of glory, Col 1:26&27, and that mystery will be finished, completed when the seventh angel sounds. Because at that point in time, the body of Christ will join the head, Jesus Christ, and become His Christ. A large portion of YouTube videos that delve into the Revelation 12 sign, link this sign to a pre tribulation rapture. They present the book of Revelation as not being chronological, but with chapters or parts of chapters that they call parenthetical, which they claim overlap earlier chapters in the narrative. They have constructed timelines, charts and all this is based on their intensive study of the book of Revelation. With this theory, they place the 12th chapter of Revelation near to the beginning of the tribulation. Thereby justifying a pre tribulation rapture. If one reads the definition of parenthesis you will see that as a literary device it is limited in scope. A online definition of Parenthesis as a literary device-“Parenthesis is a stylistic device that comes from a Greek word, meaning to place or alongside. Parenthesis is a qualifying or explanatory sentence, clause or word that writers insert into a paragraph or passage.” I did some study on the verses in the book of Revelation and came up with verses that disproved, in my mind, their claims regarding the wonder or sign of the woman of Re 12:1-5, being the pre tribulation rapture of the church. I covered Re 10:7 above, which to me is very persuasive at setting the rapture of the body of Christ at the sounding of the seventh trumpet. Additionally Re 8:13 presents a linear series of events, connected to three trumpet and three woes, that make the narrative of the 8th to 12th chapters of Revelation linear in regards to chronology.

Revelation 8:13 KJVS
[13] And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
Let’s look at where these three woes occur in the narrative of the book of Revelation.

Revelation 9:11-12 KJVS
[11] And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. [12] One woe is past; and , behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
Revelation 11:13-14 KJVS
[13] And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. [14] The second woe is past; and , behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
Revelation 12:12 KJVS
[12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

There is a continuation of a theme of the three woes which occur with the last three Trumpets that sound, 5-7, that unfolds in a linear fashion from the 8th, though the 9th, 11th and 12th chapters. So to be honest I can’t see how this theory makes sense based on scripture. In order for the wonder or sign of the woman, Re 12:1-5, to be at the beginning of the tribulation, there would have to be a 3 1/2 year passage of time between Re 12:5 and Re 12:12. Which would run counter to Re 11:14, which states the third woe comes quickly. At this juncture of time, middle of June, I am concerned that a mid Tribulation rapture taking place a couple of months from now, would require a rapid series of events to start taking place. The conjunction of the moon, Jupiter, sun and the three wandering stars that are planets , with the constellation Virgo and Leo on 9/23/2017 matches the description given in Re 12:1&2 so exact, it is hard to dismiss. But the lack of two witnesses giving their testimony in Jerusalem is troubling among other things. I guess it is a matter of wait and see. A couple nights ago I was playing around with the Stellarium app. I input the Sept. 23: 2017 date, and added the simulated land that forms the horizon and the sign of the woman was below the horizon in my location at that time of night. So I thought to try viewing the constellations from a different location. And then I thought, why not Israel. So I chose for the location Jerusalem in Israel, and was surprised it was one of the stored locations in the program. I looked for the Virgo constellation and panned the view around a bit, and due east came into view. The sun is just below the horizon illuminating the head of Virgo. In the app you can add or remove the simple drawn image representations of the various constellations which appear over the stars of the constellations. And the constellation Leo the lion, with the 12 crowning stars was clearly visible above her head, just at dawn. Right at due east. Of course Venus is known as the day star and is one of the planets that completes the crown of 12 stars. Fittingly enough the brightest of all the stars in the twelve star crown. The time when I saw this was around 22 07 10, in the time field setting in the software. Two scriptures came to mind, so I looked them up with my bible app. I felt the Spirit of the Lord move on me as I read them.

Matthew 24:27 KJVS
[27] For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
2 Peter 1:19 KJVS
[19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

It occurs to me that scriptures in Daniel may be relevant on the recent ability of being able to predict this future sign in the heavens taking place on a specific date using astronomy software. Which of course was impossible before computers were invented.

Daniel 12:2-4 KJVS
[2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. [4] But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

It is only with the increase of knowledge in computers and software technologies, that this particular alignment of planets, the sun and moon in conjunction with the two constellations was discovered. This sign may speak of troubling and chaotic times ahead. Since great suffering is on the horizon for the seed of the woman. I think it is fitting that this website’s main subject matter, is the role suffering plays in being conformed to the image of Christ.

Last Days

There was much anticipation in the nation Israel and in the surrounding middle east region following the death of Jesus Christ. Jesus came preaching to the lost sheep of Israel, Mt 4:17, to repent for the Kingdom of God was at hand. It was common knowledge in the region that the 70th week of Daniel was approaching and the whole nation of Israel, Christian Jew and Gentile Christian alike, were looking for the promised Kingdom of God, where the messiah along with Israel would rule the world. The Apostle Paul in several epistles indicates that the time was short and that the day was at hand, 1Co 7:29,  Ro 13:11-12.  He even had to reassure the Thessalonian church that the day of the Lord and the dead in Christ being gathering together unto him, had not already taken place.

2Th 2:1-3 ¶  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 ¶  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

All of this gives a brief glimpse of the great expectations for the Kingdom of God that the people in the middle east were gripped with during those days. But that expectation abruptly stops for the Christian church, when the following revelation is imparted to the Apostle Peter by the Spirit.

2Pe 3:1-4 ¶  This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2  That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 ¶  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2 Pe 3:8 ¶  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Peter is telling the church to be mindful of the words,  prophetic words, spoken by the prophets of the Old Testament and Apostles of the Lord and while doing so, to keep in mind, that in regards to prophetic utterances,  one day is with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Careful reading of the New Testament, in light of this revelation regarding prophecy, offers insight.  One prophecy this is apparent in, is in the Joel prophecy cited by Peter in the 2nd chapter of Acts.

Acts 2:16-19  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You acquire a deeper understanding of these verses by keeping in mind that a prophetic day unto the Lord is a thousand years. Take for another example Hosea.

Ho 6:1-2 ¶  Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2  After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Now, are these verses referring to the time when ungodliness is taken from Jacob and Israel of the flesh, when they are graphed back into the olive tree, Ro 11:24-32? Also Jesus was foretold to be a prophet like unto Moses, Deut 18:18, so often the events in the lives of the two men are types and shadows one of another.

Ex 19:10-11 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11  And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

The book of Hebrews, by type, refers to these events that took place in Exodus concerning Moses and mount Sinai. By type those events at Sinai also apply to the body of Christ.

Heb 12:22-25 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23  To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24  And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25  See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Could it be understood from the Lord’s words, Mt 24:22, that if the last days, (two thousand years) were not shortened that no flesh would would be saved? It is said that no man knows the day or the hour of the Lord’s return, Mt 24:36.  But a loose time frame is certainly evident from the information given in 2 Pe 3:8. Two thousand years from the resurrection of the Lord until his return. I have hesitated to include these verses in this article and my take on them, but have recently decided to do so. The Lord himself uttered these words which I think to be prophetic in nature.

Matthew 12:39-45 KJVS
[39] But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: [40] For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. [41] The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. [42] The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. [43] When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. [44] Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
[45] Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

A different account of this can be read in Luke 11:29-32. There has been difficulties over the years trying to prove that Jesus was in the tomb a full three days and nights. But if we view these statements Jesus made in light of 2Pe 3:8, of a day being a thousand years long, you can see a additional meaning. Jesus states he will be in the heart of the earth for three days and nights. Jesus is the seed that falls into the ground and dies in order to bring forth fruit. Jonas was sent to bring a Gentile city to repentance. The sign of Jonas to that wicked generation, shows when in the next 3,000 years, that generation will come up in judgement. At the end of the thousand year kingdom there will be the white throne judgment where all the Gentiles will be judged. The Queen of the south, Sheba, will come up in judgment with that wicked generation that rejected Jesus. Now this certainly was a slap in the face of those Jews listening because they held Gentiles in disdain but it also told them that they would have no part of the glorious Kingdom of God. Now it took me awhile to understand Mt 12:43-45. Jesus was the Passover lamb and before Passover every household swept the houses out making sure no yeast or leaven was in the house. The house was Israel and Jesus healed and cast out demons and the house was clean but not for long. Seven more demons worse than the first entered in. If you ever have read the accounts written by Josephus of the Jewish-Roman war, you can more easily see the analogy of seven demons worse than the first entering the house. Now getting back to the three days. The day of the Lord is the beginning of the thousand year kingdom of God, or the seventh day. From our perspective we will concentrate on the two thousand year long days before the return of the Lord. The fifth and sixth day. Remember too that there is redemption taking place in the earth during the thousand year day or seventh day of rest. Since it is commonly understood that Jesus was 33 years old when crucified and the estimated birth of the Lord ranges from 4 BC to 3 A.D.. His return should be roughly 2000 years after his death. These estimates of Jesus birth and death, comes from just a brief examination of the subject, when using Google search on the Internet. If Jesus’s return is at the mid point of the tribulation and placing his death at 29 A.D., that would entail his return in 2026 or earlier due to Mt 24:22. It is quite evident to me that we are at the tail end of the last days and will see the Lord’s return in our lifetime. I often update articles when I run across new information and the following information agrees with the timeframe I outlined above. The quote from the article that follows is a bit disjointed taken out of context and the reader is welcome to read the short article at this web address.

“If this calculation is correct it is possible that year 2029 (5790) is year 6001 after Adam, when the Messianic kingdom will be established on earth.

According to the rabbinical year count it would be on year 5790, which gives us a difference of 211 years. This difference in years is due to the fact that Rabbis count 210 years of the sons of Israel in Egypt while the Torah speaks of 430 years (Exodus 12:40), which yields a difference of 220 years (430 – 210 = 220). Besides, the calculation of the period of the Persian Empire is uncertain.

The Jewish year 5790 will begin on September 10 of year 2029.”

We certainly appear to be in the last days and I for one am looking for the appearing of my Lord and Saviour.

Re 22:20-21 ¶  He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
